What is Shockwave Therapy and how can it help me?
Shockwave therapy is an effective and clinically proven treatment for pain, acute and chronic soft tissue injuries.
A shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to target areas. The energy waves gradually disrupt scar tissue and stimulate an inflammatory response, which in turn increases blood flow and enhances cell regeneration. These processes collectively speed up the healing process of that tissue, helping to reduce pain and restore function swiftly.
Here at Jonathan Clark Physiotherapy, we have successfully and rapidly helped clients to overcome the following injuries and conditions with a course of Shockwave Therapy: –
- Plantar fasciopathy
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Patella tendinopathy
- Gluteal tendinopathy
- Shin splints
- Rotator cuff tendinopathy
- Trochanteric bursitis
- Tennis elbow
- Golfer’s elbow
- Myofascial trigger points
- Lower back pain
The science recommends between 3 and 6 treatments, spaced out at weekly intervals, in conjunction with a home exercise programme.
Here is a testimonial from a runner who we’ve helped to overcome an achilles tendinopathy with Shockwave Therapy in time for the London Marathon: –
