Ricky Attfield
Musculoskeletal Practitioner
Ricky grew up in Dorking, Surrey, with his family and spent most of his younger years in Reigate. He was actively involved in sports, playing rugby, swimming, and spending time with a great group of friends.
Ricky attended Solent University in 2000, where he earned an HND in Tourism Management. He later graduated in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Studies with Business.
In addition to his degree, Ricky has obtained several qualifications to enhance his expertise in musculoskeletal therapy; a BTEC Diploma, Level 5, in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy, an International Diploma in Myofascial Cupping Therapy, and a course in FHT Medical Acupuncture & Dry Needling.
These qualifications enable Ricky to provide a comprehensive approach to pain relief, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.
Ricky has over 25 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. His professional journey includes clinical work with JCP since 2015, and he’s been self-employed since around 2013. Throughout his career, Ricky has provided rehabilitation and treatment to international sports players, high-level aerial artists, and local clubs. Additionally, he has led numerous training sessions, educating and mentoring other health professionals. He’s also supervised a large number of students, providing guidance during post-event treatments, helping them gain valuable hands-on experience in the field.
Ricky’s motivation to become a Musculoskeletal Practitioner stemmed from a deep curiosity about the human body and its complexities. He was initially fascinated by how little we truly understand about how our bodies function, heal, and repair themselves. He observed how people often take their bodies for granted, relying on others for knowledge and assistance when things go wrong. This realization sparked a strong sense of purpose in Ricky, driving him to pursue a career where he could use his skills to help others in a holistic way; addressing not just physical needs, but also mental and emotional well-being too.
What Ricky enjoys most about his job is the unique individuality of each person he works with. He appreciates that every person has their own specific reason for seeking help. Being able to use his skills to assist people – not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally – is deeply rewarding for him. Ultimately, it’s the opportunity to improve people’s quality of life that gives him the most fulfilment in his work.
