Joel Harris

Physiotherapist

Joel grew up in Guildford, with his parents, twin sister, a pet dog, and a famous cat.

He studied BSc Sport and Exercise Science and then MSc Physiotherapy at the University of Portsmouth, graduating in 2022 and then 2025 with an upper second class honours and a merit.

Joel is in his first year as a qualified physiotherapist and through his clinical placements, he has gained experience across a wide range of settings, including geriatrics, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and elite sports. These diverse opportunities have helped him build a strong foundation in all core areas of physiotherapy.

Joel’s journey into physiotherapy began with his own experiences recovering from football and trauma related injuries. Seeing first-hand how physiotherapy not only aids rehabilitation but also builds confidence and helps achieve personal goals, he developed a deep appreciation for its impact. As he grew older, his fascination with human anatomy grew, along with a passion for guiding others through the same journey he once experienced.

Joel enjoys the challenges and complexities that each case presents. He enjoys meeting new people, understanding their unique needs, and guiding them through their recovery. Helping individuals overcome pain, tackle problems, return to activity and achieve their goals is what makes his work so rewarding.

Question & Answer

Private practice felt like the perfect fit for me, as it allows me to make full use of the resources and equipment needed to provide the best possible care, something that can be limited in other settings. It has given me the opportunity to refine my skills and truly focus on helping people the right way. From the very beginning, Jonathan and the team impressed me with their professionalism, friendly atmosphere, and shared passion for helping others. JCP also offers excellent support for newly qualified physiotherapists, making it the ideal place to grow and develop as a clinician.

The joy of physiotherapy is that no day is ever the same, there are so many weird and wonderful injuries to treat which makes them all enjoyable. However, I do love treating lower limb, sports, shoulder, and age-related conditions.

Outside of work, I am an avid football lover, I play every Saturday and sadly try to watch my team (Tottenham) win when I can. I also enjoy playing golf, staying active in the gym and the occasional pint at the pub.

I can’t pick one, so I’ll pick 3. Django Unchained, Inception and the Dark Knight.

I love a good European city break. I regularly go for long weekends to watch an international football match but my favourite place I’ve travelled to has to be Barcelona. Everything about it is perfect. The scenery, architecture, culture, the people and night life.
