About Megan

Megan grew up in Lee-On-The-Solent, Gosport, a 5 minute walk from the beach! With her parents, older sister and four cats. She briefly moved to Birmingham for three years to complete her Undergraduate before moving back home.

Megan has an ISRM BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy with the London School of Sports Massage, a 2:1 BSc Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences from the University of Birmingham, and a Merit MSc Physiotherapy from the University of Southampton.

Megan has 2 years working as a Massage therapist in an Osteopathy clinic, 2 years working self employed as a mobile soft tissue therapist, and many placement experiences, including working in musculoskeletal outpatients, paediatrics, a frailty ward, A&E, and a stroke ward.

In terms of Megan’s motivation to become a Physiotherapist, she expresses that within her family, there is a chiropractor and a massage therapistâ€Ļ it was in her blood! And when Megan was younger, she dislocated her shoulder kayaking, injured her knee at hockey, and without physiotherapy, she couldn’t have returned as successfully to either sport. She really wanted a future where she could help people this way too!

Megan really enjoys her work. She loves seeing her client’s improvement, helping them get back to the things they enjoy, the things they need to do, and the things they thought they’d never be able to do again.

Question & Answer

During my degree, my favourite placement was in a private physiotherapy clinic. It was clear that this fast-paced setting, with a wide variety of patients and resources was where I could see my career progressing. JCP clearly showed their supportive atmosphere for learning, and their passion for helping people, and felt like somewhere I could grow and thoroughly enjoy working.
I enjoy a variety to keep each treatment interesting, but I particularly enjoy treating long term lower back pain or sporting injuries.
I train and compete (sometimes!) in powerlifting and have played hockey from the age of 5.
King Arthur: Legend of the sword (or anything directed by Guy Ritchie).
Anywhere! I love to travel – if it’s somewhere I haven’t been before even better. I spent 6 weeks enjoying some winter sun in Australia, but never decline a quick city break to Europe, whether it’s hot or cold!
