About Simi
Simi grew up in Lagos, Nigeria until the age of 12 before moving to Southampton with her parents and brother.
She studied Physiotherapy at Cardiff University, graduating in 2023 with an upper second class honours degree.
Simi has been working at JCP since graduating. She has also been working as a tennis coach since 2018 when she achieved her level 2 tennis coaching qualification.
In terms of Simiâs motivation to become a Physiotherapist, her grandparents were actually physiotherapists. Her granddad was the first ever first Nigerian professor of physiotherapy, after obtaining his degree in Canda and his masters in America. They were huge role models in her life. From a young age, Simi had the hand for manual techniques like her grandmother had shown her. She even charged her family ÂŖ1 for her service when she was 10-16 years old. She was very sporty as a child, so had her fair share of physiotherapy sessions which helped her a lot. She wanted to become a part of Jonathanâs team to help others too.
Simi loves growing in knowledge and experience with the variety of clients that walk through our door. She feels that no client is the same, even when they present with the same condition. She expresses that, âItâs amazing to go through a clientâs journey with them and see the improvements each week, and even though a client may not necessarily see it themselves, it is nice to remind them of where they started and how far they have come.â Simi also enjoys working independently, but also has a fantastic team supporting her that she can pluck skills from!
Question & Answer
Why did you choose to work at JCP?
Simi actually came to JCP as a patient around 10 years ago funnily enough. She had amazing treatment from Jonathan himself for her lower back and after she had broken her foot. Jonathan helped her get back to doing the activities she loved, which was at the time sprinting and tennis! She aligns with the companyâs WHY and wanted to be part of a team that gets clients back to doing their favourite hobbies and more.
What do you enjoy treating?
Lower back or shoulders.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Simi enjoys the outdoors, going to the beach, playing tennis, Pilates, park run and going to the gym. She likes to spend time with family and friends and loves a cheeky holiday.
What is your favourite movie?
Ooooo, Iâd have to say it depends on my mood! I enjoy crime shows but I am a sucker for romantic movies, in particular âThe Notebookâ
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Mexico was amazing, she got to swim with dolphins and spend time on the beach, her happy place. She does also enjoy going back home to Nigeria.
