Arthritis and Physical Activity

Studies suggest that individuals with arthritis may experience short-term increases in pain on beginning exercise; however, continued exercise has been shown to be effective in reducing long-term symptoms of pain and discomfort.

Low impact physical activity such as walking, swimming and cycling help to reduce the stress exerted through joints whilst enabling joint-friendly physical activity!

At Jonathan Clark, we perform thorough assessments of affected joints, offer detailed explanations regarding diagnosis and tailor treatment plans to suit individual needs. Treatment often focusses on mobilising, stretching and strengthening joints to maintain range of movement and increase joint stability.

Our physiotherapists offer advice regarding appropriate exercise and activity modification; as well as pain relief modalities such as massage, acupuncture and kinesiology taping.
