The Science

Shoulder pain is caused by many factors, the rotator cuff being one of them.

The rotator cuff is made up of 4 muscles; supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis. The role of these muscles is to provide stability within the shoulder and to help lift and rotate the arm. When these muscles aren’t working as they should, shoulder pain can occur.

Sometimes when experiencing shoulder pain you can also get pain into your neck or down your arm. This is not unusual and something that can be treated by our team of therapists’.

The Solution

Rest is not effective in reducing your shoulder pain. We have found the best form of treatment is a combination of stretches, manual therapy and exercises to not only strengthen the shoulder but other parts of the upper body too!

An effective and efficient programme personalised to yourself, you will have the tools to reduce your shoulder pain and prevent it from returning in the future.

If shoulder pain is left untreated it can worsen or cause limitations such as inabilities to put on a coat or put up your hair.

Client Case Study

Tammy came in to see us unable to lie on her side or reach up and get a cup out of the cupboard!

After restoring her range of motion we moved onto strengthening her shoulder and surrounding musculature. She is now pain free and able to perform her yoga sessions without any issues! This is what she had to say about us;

“I have been treated by Anna Thomson for a rotator cuff problem which was causing me alot of pain. Following the treatments (tissue massages and stretches) and exercises – helped by an excellent app – I am now almost without pain and my range of movement and strength are improving daily! Anna has been wonderful. I recommend highly.”
